“Cereal” by LENII
Irish indie pop singer/songwriter LENII comes to Wolf in a Suit for the first time with the in your face melodic gem that is “Cereal”. With catchy hooks and down to earth lyricism she paints a picture that is so real and so raw as it takes shape and form and connects the dots for all of us. The soundscape carries a much welcomed rebellious touch that reminds everyone that people are not possessions and there’s no “mine” when it comes to relationships. It’s quite refreshing to hear a voice ready to spread a message that seems to connect so beautifully with the current times ready to roam the world. So listen, pay careful attention and embrace the sweet in your face ambrosia of this soundscape. Enjoy!
“Cereal is a standing-up-for-myself song (something Iʼve never been very good at). Basically I had recently broken up with my boyfriend, who I was with for over 2 years, and it was the worst thing Iʼve ever experienced. Almost immediately, at a time when I was at my most vulnerable, a close friend swooped in thinking I was up for grabs (I know this sounds like such teenage drama). I was so angry that my own feelings were totally disregarded and I was made feel like an object that could be passed around. I know most girls can probably relate to this in someway. I thought about how, in my experience, when guys hit on girls the line “I have a boyfriend” is always more concrete than “Iʼm not interested” and the idea is that youʼre not unavailable enough until you ‘belongʼ to someone else. Which is just dumb.” – LENII
