“Can I Stay Here Forever (pt. II)” by Marsicans
UK based indie pop/rock band Marsicans come to us with a contemporary and refreshing gem in “Can I stay here forever (pt. II)”. With the verses and melodies of this exquisite and passionate track they embrace the current reality of their country with Brexit and impending unknown of it in a way that sheds light for those who do not know much about it. The soundscape is so personal in a way delivers the right message for everyone to pay attention to and embrace the feelings and emotions that reside within it. I am hooked by the unique experience that the track gives us as it soars through the airwaves with a story that is so human and so real. They invite us all to listen and try to understand each other a little better because in the end, we are all in this big blue world together. Enjoy!
“The UK has been a particularly divided place over the past few years and this song was born out of frustration with it all. My head was (still is) overloaded by news surrounding Brexit and an impending environmental disaster. This song is me wanting everyone to chill the fuck out, stop treating other people as the enemy and just get on with actually solving the problems we’re facing. I was going to say this song isn’t aimed at one particular side of ‘the debate’, but that was my issue in the first place. There isn’t a debate. People shut their ears to anyone with an opposite opinion, rather than trying to understand their point of view and have a reasonable conversation.”
And why Part 2? “Can I Stay Here Forever actually started a few years back. An earlier version was part of the live set and was actually recorded. For some reason, it never saw the light of day. Part 2 is a tip of the hat to its predecessor.” – James Newbigging of Marsicans
