“Passenger” by Hippo Campus

From Minneapolis comes the indie pop/rock band Hippo Campus and their careful exploration of relationships and growing up. With “Passenger” we get a mature showcase of emotions and moments in which life can either pull you together or push you apart. It’s about understanding that there are challenges as you and who you love grow, for in that growth you might find yourselves looking elsewhere. The track is realistic and honest for it does not sugarcoat the situation, but it also is hopeful for a pleasant and happy future. You’ll either take the challenges head on or crumble and wither apart, the choice is yours. Enjoy!

[su_quote cite=”Singer/guitarist Jake Luppen, Hippo Campus”]Passenger was written in the winter of 2017 after the first four months of touring on landmark. Lyrically the themes deal with the challenges of growing alongside the person you love. For this song in particular I tried to challenge myself to write a more complex chord progression to sing to. I started off with a TR-8 groove and the rest followed pretty naturally.[/su_quote]
