“Green Light” by Lorde
Lorde is back and world rejoice, after a few years of no new music, we get another showcase of her ability to capture lighting in a bottle each and every time. There’s something about her that sets her on a league of her own, it might be the evolving maturity in her vocals and lyrics or maybe her connection with the surreal and mundane parts of the human experience or simply just maybe it all comes to her naturally in dreams – who knows? But we know she is a talent to behold. Through “Green light” we get her first true heartbreak track and is so fantastic and easy to understand and relate that there’s no going back once you hear it, you just fall from your chair into the abyss and end up finding yourself housed by her melodies and her verses. Through her eyes we feel the cold drunken pain of a fresh broken heart, but we know she/we will rebuild and move on and move forward because Lorde symbolizes strength, talent, beauty and an innate will to keep on going forward and overcoming fears and tears.
I do my makeup in somebody else’s car
We order different drinks at the same bars
I know about what you did and I wanna scream the truth
She thinks you love the beach, you’re such a damn liar
