We recorded around 11pm at night..all huddled around playing live next to each other..there was something really special about it because it felt so human. I was listening to a lot Laura Marling and Damien Rice around the time and I think their methods definitely help shape this EP. ‘Willow Tree’ is definitely my favourite track Chris Bond has produced of mine..he gave it a really warm texture and depth that the recording required. I also feel like it’s my least comprised recording to date because of they way we tracked it.

“Willow Tree” by Tom Speight

A magical and beautiful union of Tom Speight’s unique and melodious vocals with Jessica Staveley-Taylor from The Staves and her charming ethereal voice. With harmonies that are able to transport us to a realm that blends fantasy and reality, they allow the verses to truly flow with ease as they capture our hearts and captivate our senses. As always Tom shows us why he is in my opinion one of the best singer/songwriters in the indie music scene of today. With the powerful and perfect union of folk storytelling and light touches of the openness of pop he is able to truly engulf us in the sounds and lyrics of the soundscape of “Willow Tree”. This music gem encompasses so many feelings and emotions, from love to heartbreak to abandonment and need and it does it all so masterfully that I can’t help but be in awe of the sheer beauty of it. Bravo Tom! Bravo “Willow Tree”! and bravo music!
