“We have always been a tight knit group, but the vibe is the best it’s been and we are looking forward to bringing these songs to the public,” says front man Nick Brown. “Very few things matter in this world, and we think music is one of them.”
“In the Middle” by MONA
I still remember the first time I heard Nick Brown’s powerful vocals as he lead the band into the music video for “Lean into the fall” – they had appeared as a recommended song and something in me just told me to click and listen. I did just that and I honestly don’t regret it for one bit – up to this day it is one of the best musical decisions I’ve made. They quickly became one of my favorite bands as you can see in the about section of the website. They created gems like their self titled debut album (with songs like “Lean into the fall”, “Shooting the moon” and more) and their last album ‘Torches &Pitchforks’ (with the hit “Goons (Baby, I need it all)” ).
They attracted me to their music with the approachable nature of the melodies they create, the rebellious nature behind Nick’s voice and that sense of family that one feels as you hear them sing the most indie rock perfect songs infused with the right touch of humanity, power and even some folk thrown in the mix. MONA is a band that stays in the middle ground, connecting the fans with their music becoming a bridge between mainstream and indie and touching all who have the pleasure of listening and singing along to their songs.
Finally, after much wait, we see the light and it comes in the shape and form of a soon to be release brand new EP named ‘In the Middle’ which will include “Judas” and the main track of this post named as the EP “In the Middle”. Just listen to that raw and rebellious spirit that is so part of Nick’s singing, listen to the maturity in the lyrics and to how the band creates the best soundscape for that powerful voice to showcase all its beauty from soft tunes to powerful moments that come naturally to him. Listen and don’t let the anxiety take over for the EP is almost here.
