Top 5 New Indie Pop Week 11

1- Jay Pray

Song: I’d go anywhere (do anything)

Why? The talented New York based Jay Pray delivers one of the best indie pop tracks I’ve heard and honestly the music video does not fall behind. The drums are pure beauty and the synth-pop filled soundscape delivers a certain bittersweet feel about it that is captivating and endearing. While the melody invites for a happy place, the lyrics speak of a bit of heartache and want that is relatable

2- Humble Braggers

Song: Fight

Why? Humble Braggers deliver what I would like to label as Indie Pop with guts, the powerful soundscape showcases the strength that pop can encompass when needed to and still remains inviting. “Fight” takes a look at our inner struggles and how life could feel like pushing down on us, but we fight and lift our heads up because we are not going to be defeated, we move on and move forward.

3- Shaefri

Song: Monster

Why? Shaefri is a songstress, a goddess and a musical force of nature who with “Monster” delivers an insightful look in the devil and angel in the shoulders and the monster under the bed story. With her we finally know that the monster under our beds are us, we pull at our feet inviting ourselves to fall into the abyss. She embraces the struggle and fights as we all do to not allow that darkness that dwells in us to take over, for we are more than it.

4- Galen Crew

Song: Fragrance

Why? An amazing thank you to the Chinese audience that embraced his voice and his music, the music video shows his touring of the country where his music has become viral and to be honest he is on his way of doing the same across the globe. With a certain purity and honesty in the way he delivers both lyrics and melodies, he invites us into his soundscape each and every time.

5- Laurence Castera

Song: Vertige

Why? Amazing and extremely talented Canadian singer/songwriter Laurence Castera delivers a beautiful tune in the shape and form of “Vertige” (Vertigo). With it we are transported to multiple faces and stories of love and the vertigo that this feeling creates in us. While in the wonderful adventure of love we are dizzy, loose control of our senses and forget that we are one at times. Love is an uncontrollable force that shows its effects on the body and it can be utterly mesmerizing.
